통영 시민 문화 회관...
어느날 윤재하는 야외 공연을 하게 된다.
은영이 운전하는 차를 타고 가다가 길이 밀려 더이상 차를 타고 가지 못하고 은영이 구해 온 오토바이를 타고 공연장으로 향한다. 언덕을 올라 도착한 공연장과 그리고 바다 건너편으로 보이는 조선소...
그곳에서 윤재하가 야외 공연을 한다. 야외여서 그런지 더 운치있게 들리는 피아노 소리와 함께...
그곳이 어디일까 무척이나 궁금했었는데... 바로 통영에 있는 시민문화회관이다. 그리고 그 주위를 둘러싼 공원이 망월산 공원이다.
윤재하의 야외 피아노 콘서트 현장인 통영 시민문화회관... 이곳 역시 두번에 걸쳐 방문했었다.
첫번째 방문시에는 어둑어둑해질 무렵에 방문했었기 때문에 다시 한번 방문해 보고 싶었다. 또 통영에서 통영국제음악제(http://timf.org, 예전에는 윤이상 음악회였던 것으로 알고 있음)가 열린다는 사실 또한 나를 다시 한번 방문해 보도록 했다.
두번째 방문시에는 일부러 통영국제음악제 기간에 맞춰 방문했었고 당시 주제는 사진에서 보여지는 것처럼 East & West였다. 미리 예매는 하지 않았지만, 당일 현장에서 티켓을 어렵지 않게 구매할 수 있었다. 저녁 7시에 하는 부산시향의 교향곡 공연이었던 것으로 기억된다.
바다 건너편으로 보이는 조선소와 함께 망월산 공원에는 다양한 조각 작품들이 전시되어 있어 그것을 관람하는 것도 즐거운 일이었다.
시민문화회관에서 얼마 떨어지지 않은 곳에 중앙시장이 있어 신선한 해산물을 즐길 수 있다는 것도 통영을 찾아가는 이유가 되지 않을까 싶다. 처음 방문시에는 그냥 시장에서 적당한 가게에 들어가서 한 끼를 때웠지만, 두번째 방문시에는 신문사 웹사이트에서 통영 맛집을 검색해서 찾아갔다. 도다리 쑥국과 멸치밥을 먹었던 것 같은데, 굉장히 맛있었다.

봄의왈츠를 보다가 벚꽃잎이 눈처럼 떨어지는 장면들에 순식간에 매료되었다.
첫번째 장면은 아빠를 따라나서는 수호와 기차길, 조용히 지나가는 기차, 그리고 벚꽃나무, 벚꽃잎...
그리고 수호와 은영이 청산도 집을 떠나 서울로 올라가는 길에 나왔던 기차역 플랫폼... 둘은 마치 벚꽃이 하늘을 덮은 듯한 곳을 지나고 있었다... 그 아름다운 장면을 잊을수가 없었다.
그곳이 어디일까 정말 궁금했었는데, 바로 진해 경화역이었다.
벚꽃이 흩날리는 그 모습을 너무 보고 싶어서, 경화역을 두번이나 찾아갔었다.
첫번째는 2007년 4월 7일이었고, 두번째는 2009년 3월 30일이었다. 내가 두번이나 찾아갔던 이유는 첫번째 여행에서 드라마에서처럼 흐드러지게 핀 벚꽃 나무아래에 꽃잎이 눈내리듯 떨어지는 모습을 보지 못했기 때문이었다. 4월 7일이 너무 늦었던 것 같아서 다음에는 3월 30일에 찾아갔으나, 두번 모두 내가 원하는 그림을 보지는 못했다.
첫번째 여행에서는 이미 벚꽃잎이 많이 떨어지고 난 다음이었고 두번째 여행에서는 너무 일찍 간 탓에 벚꽃이 미쳐 피지 않은 상태였다. 두번째 여행은 군항제 시점과도 일치했으나 경화역 벚꽃은 아직 만개하지 않았다. 매년 그 정확한 시기를 알아낸다는 것이 어렵겠지만, 4월 5일정도가 적당한 시점이 아닐까 싶다. 혹은 진해 군항제가 연례화되어 있고 자원봉사자들도 꽤 있던데, 진해 군항제에 전화해 보는 것도 정확한 날짜를 아는 데 도움이 되지 않을까 싶다.
첫번째 여행에선 경화역만 둘러보고 왔지만, 두번째 여행에선 진해 군항제도 볼 수 있었다. 경화역은 벚꽃이 만개하지 않았지만, 여좌천을 비롯한 다른 곳은 꽃이 일찍 피는 곳도 있었다.
군항제 기간중에 공개되는 진해 해군사관학교는 벚꽃 나무 뿐만 아니라 해군 함정 등 다른 볼거리도 제공해 볼만했던 것 같다.
Gyeong Hwa Station
I was instantly enticed by the falling cherry blossom petals in Spring Waltz.
Do you remember one of them, the scene that Suho was following his father crossing the rails? And the silently moving train, cherry blossom, and the falling petals....
The other was the scene that Suho and Eunyoung were walking on the station's platform when they were heading to Seoul leaving CheongSan island... The two were passing by the place where cherry blossom flowers were covering all their above... it was a cherry blossom tunnel. I cannot forget that beautiful scene.
I really wanted to know the place. It was 'GyeongHwa Station' in Jinhae.
I visited this station twice since I really wanted to see cherry blossom petals falling like snow flakes as in the scene in the TV show.
I traveled there on April 7, 2007 and on March 30, 2009. The reason why I visited the station twice was that I could not see the petals falling like snow flakes as I saw in the show. I thought that April 7 is too late and went there earlier on March 30 next time. However, on both occasions, I could not see the picture that I wanted.
On my first trip, already lots of petals were fallen. On the second trip, the blossoms were not in full bloom since I arrived there too early. Even though my second travel falls on the date of the naval port festival (a very famous festival in Jinhae for its beautiful cherry blossom), the blossoms in the station were not in full bloom. It would be very difficult to predict the exact date but I guess it might be around April 5. If you really want to know the exact date, you may call the Jinhae naval port festival office, since this festival is held every year and there are lots of volunteers to help the tourists.
On my first travel, I just visited the station and left for another city. On the other hand, on my second trip, I visited other places in Jinhae and the naval port (open to the public during the festival) to enjoy the cherry blossom. Places such as Yeojwa stream (CNN Go picked this as one of the most beautiful places in Korea. Gyeongwha station was also selected as one of them. http://travel.cnn.com/seoul/visit/50-beautiful-places-visit-korea-873093 ) had lots of cherry blossoms in full bloom unlike the station.
Both times, I drove there. My first travel fell on Saturday of naval port festival, which took me around 1~2 hours to enter the city because of the traffic jam.
During the festival, Jinhae Naval Academy is open to the public allowing you to see not only the cherry blossom trees but also the naval vessels.
